The first workshop (Workshop 1) will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 23 & 24 and Workshop 2 will be held on Thursday and Friday, June 25 & 26th.

Each workshop starts at 8:30 a.m. daily and continues until 5:00 p.m. There are three breaks – morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea.

Participants are asked to take along their laptop and other electronic device with storage capacity.

Certificate of participation is to be presented to all participants of the workshops.

Presently the workshops are not accredited by any professional bodies. We are working to ensure that the respective professional bodies accredit all future executive workshops.

For ease and convenience there are two simple methods of payment. As soon as you have completed the online registration form and submit same; payment can be made (a) directly to our Bank Account at NCB Branch at the corner of Haining and Oxford Road Account No: 21-1111-313, Name of Account – The Development Bank of Jamaica/JVCP please print your name clearly on the voucher or (b) You can also write a cheque payable to Development Bank of Jamaica/JVCP for the full amount and deliver to the DBJ at 11a Oxford Road, Kingston 5.

As soon as we have received your online registration form, we will send you pre-workshop reading material and additional information on the workshop.

All Workshop material - manual and handbook will be made available to participants on the first day of the Workshop.

The training programmes are designed to provide an overview of the venture capital and private equity industry.  In particular, the courses are focused on the investment perspectives, considerations and operations in an emerging market.  The programmes are full of real-life case studies and hand-on exercises, to ensure delegates walk away fully up to speed.  Participants to our workshops will:

  • Increase their competence in this emerging industry
  • Be exposed to best practices world-wide
  • Gain insight into, and increase their awareness of, global trends
  • Network with peers to share knowledge and opportunities

Workshop 2 provides a working knowledge of the asset class and is targeting all persons interested in learning and knowing more about private equity and venture capital. 

Persons who should attend include, but not limited to:  General Partners, Limited Partners, Fund Managers, Bankers and Financial Intermediaries, Lawyers, Accountants, Individual Investors, Institutional Investors, Corporate Investors, M&A Professionals, Consultants, Family Offices, Finance Managers, SMEs, Entrepreneurs, University Academics, Incubator managers, Public Sector Regulators and policy-makers.

Workshop 2 provides more in depth training particularly for those who will be involved in fund investments either as a fund manager, angel investor, institutional investor or their attorneys and advisors.

The nature of our training sessions are that they are composed of a series of highly interactive presentations, dialogue and group exercises, requiring input and discussion from attendees. As such there will be ample opportunity during the sessions to involve local PC/VC professionals, sharing issues relating to the local market.
