About the Training Workshops

The Development Bank of Jamaica, through the Jamaica Venture Capital Programme recognized that access to financing is a major impediment to the growth and development of SMEs in Jamaica and determined that a strategic intervention was needed.  In February 2013, the DBJ signed a technical assistance agreement with the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF), which resulted in the preparation of a Strategic and Implementation Plan for the development of the venture capital ecosystem in Jamaica.

As part of the strategic plan that has been developed for the establishment of a private equity and venture capital industry, the Development Bank of Jamaica, through the Jamaica Venture Capital Programme is committed to ensuring that all market stakeholders have the requisite skills and the capacity to undertake venture capital transactions.

The Private Equity & Venture Capital Executive Training programmes are two workshops, each held over two days.  Both training sessions will explore key principles and practices of private equity investing and are designed to ensure specific outcomes for participants.  The training workshops are built around a series of exercises designed to illustrate to participants the practical experiences that drive current private equity/venture capital practices.  The exercises are supplemented by consolidatory reviews of current tools, techniques and practices.
