The Multilateral Investment Fund with their extensive experience in developing venture capital ecosystems in Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) is providing support to the development of SMEs in Jamaica by building a suitable ecosystem for the creation of a viable VC industry.  
Through the technical assistance to be made available under this project, the necessary expertise will be contracted to undertake a programme of activities, which will encompass three components critical to the “rolling out” the VC Ecosystem:

  • Market Analysis and Strategic Plan Development – to determine stakeholders needs
  • Development of the Legal and Regulatory Environment – review existing legislative, regulatory and tax environment relating to private equity and redesign an appropriate legal and incentive framework for the industry
  •  Awareness and Change Management – develop a communication strategy to build an appreciation of the VC asset class

Venture Capital Fund – Pilot Project
The DBJ will be the catalyst to the launch of the venture fund under a public-private sector partnership targeted at viable businesses which require capital, capacity building and improved governance structures.
